A Lab on Fire® began as an independent fragrance project built around a simple idea: create fragrances without following the usual rules of the industry.

Over the years, the project collaborated with some of the world's most respected perfumers, including Sophia Grojsman, Carlso Benaim, Thierry Wasser, Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge, Maurice Roucel, David Apel and others. The fragrances were accompanied by stories, photographs, poems, references and occasional detours that often had little to do with traditional perfume marketing.

Today, What We Do Is Secret (WWDIS) continues that journey.

This website preserves the original pages, stories and creative materials that helped shape the project over the years. Many of the texts, poems, images and fragrance narratives found here were created before the transition to the current WWDIS website and remain here in their original form.

Think of this site as the director's cut.

Not everything here is current. Not everything here is polished. Some pages belong to fragrances that no longer exist. Others capture ideas exactly as they were first presented.
